James Beard Public Market

Forest Mushroom Celebration 

 

November 7th- 9th, 2017

 

 

 

Tuesday, November 7th through Thursday, November 9th, Higgins Restaurant & Bar will feature a special five course wild mushroom menu to celebrate the height of the harvest of these forest fruits.  The proceeds from the event will benefit The James Beard Public Market, a community led effort to build a daily, year-round public market on Portland’s waterfront.  This public/private project will revitalize the central waterfront neighborhood with a “market district” for all Oregonians and our many visitors who will experience the region’s culinary riches.

Chef Greg Higgins has created a menu matching the wines of Cristom Winery, Chehalem Winery , Elk Cove Vineyards,  and Sokol Blosser Winery  to the finest of autumn fungi and organic produce.  The vegetarian menu showcases the versatility and complexity of flavors and textures for the most select varieties of mushrooms and will be presented on pottery produced by Roger Long, Charlie Piatt and Greg Higgins. The wines have been chosen to complement the deep and earthy flavors of the dishes.
